Continuing Education
Learn the world’s greatest solutions to the most crucial problems of architectural practice.
Enroll by printable enrollment form
In 1994, SFIA became a registered provider of continuing education for the American Institute of Architects (AIA) offering over 40 distance learning architecture and ecological design courses for professional development and education. Over 5,000 architects have taken SFIA’s continuing education courses. SFIA courses meet state license renewal standards for distance learning continuing education. SFIA continuing education courses focus on the latest and best tools of practice and project management. Earn units as you apply course work to day-to-day practice or use courses as office manuals and earn units later.
Academic Credit
Earn 8, 12, or 18 AIA continuing education units per course, by reading course materials and answering essay questions. All courses come in convenient, three-ring binder syllabus format and will be valued office reference handbooks for years to come.
Continuing education credit requires answers two essay questions on how you can and/or will apply the course information in professional practice. Time required is one hour per unit. Full instructions and worksheets are included with each course.
Those who complete the courses receive a Certificate of Completion showing Continuing Education Unit credit, to copy and present to state licensing agencies. SFIA reports AIA member credit according to AIA/CES rules.
Noncredit Option
No work is required unless you upgrade later to “credit” status. Credit upgrade form is included with course materials
