Since it’s inception, SFIA has continually expanded to its curriculum and programs to stay current with new technologies and industry trends. In 2008, SFIA created the first major national and international green building conference, the Eco Wave and has held recurring workshops for design professionals and educators in over 50 cities across the U.S. Virtually every pioneer, innovator, and activist in ecological design has spoken at our events.

Since then, with our encouragement and participation, dozens of new green building conferences have been created and are offered annually in cities across the US and overseas. Much credit for this expansion is due to the interest sparked by the SBIC and like-minded organizations such as AIA-COTE, and the US Green Building Council.
