MONDAY EVENINGS

EVERYTHING ECO
3 units. Mondays, 6:30 - 7:45 p.m. Six weeks.
Instructor: Fred Stitt, Architect; Director, SFIA.
Starts Monday, March 19, 2007.

A six-week class that reviews in detail everything that's happening
in ecological design, who's doing it, and how. Extremely eye-opening
topics by SFIA Director/Architect, Fred Stitt (who's giving this course
as workshops for architects in every major city in the U.S.).
(See Everything Eco Workshops notices at www.sfia.net, for complete
list of contents.)

CREATIVE ARCHITECTURE

Instructor: Craig Henritzy, Architect.
Starts Monday, March 19, 2007.

A six-week studio with Craig Henritzy. An authority on Native American culture and a very accomplished architect and artist, Craig's studio class shows how to apply the best, ancient, nature-sensitive design principles to modern design and construction.

He'll introduce a design project based on a new Ohlone Center/cafe for a property on the Bay side of the bicycle bridge near Aquatic Park.

WEDNESDAY EVENINGS

T-1 Part II
CONSTRUCTION MATERIALS
AND METHODS -- WHY BUILDINGS FAIL
3 units. Wednesdays, 6:30 - 7:30 p.m. Six weeks.
Instructor: Fred Stitt, Architect; Director, SFIA.
Class starts Wednesday, March 21, 2007.

A six-week class that shows why buildings succeed or fail --
especially why they fail.

You can design to survive earthquakes, landslides, fires, floods,
and high winds. You can also avoid the common mistakes
architects make that result in huge, expensive failures in planning,
construction, and construction materials. In fact, 80% of all building
failures are due to just a few easily-understood and preventable causes.
These are all covered in detailed case studies in this class.

Many students have said that this T-1, Part II class is one of the most
useful educational experiences they've ever had. It can help you save
lives and prevent hugely expensive losses, while helping to protect
and enhance the natural environment.

D-120
HANDS-ON "EVERYTHING YOU NEED
TO KNOW" DESIGN STUDIO
5 units. Wednesdays, 7:35 - 9:30 p.m. Eight weeks.
Instructor: Fred Stitt, Architect; Director, SFIA.
Starts Wednesday, March 21, 2007.

An eight-week, in depth, "how-to" and hands-on studio class.

Students will complete the design of a building of their choice, practice the best techniques of presentation drawing and model building, and learn how to plan and manage formal presentations before clients and others. An excellent project to add to your portfolio. Intensive and hands on, all work takes place on site during the weekly, two-hour, evening classes.
